📋 Procedure

ℹ️ Torque figures below come verbatim from workshop data — always cross-check against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening.

Note:

The sliding door is correctly adjusted when an even gap exists all round the door opening with the door closed

The door waistline must align with that on the body. Ensure also that the door has not been set too far in or that it stands proud. To attain these requirements, the following operations must be carried out:

Adjusting lower roller guide

1 -
Washer
2 -
Hexagon head bolt
3 -
Roller arm
4 -
Guideroller, bottom
5 -
Felt ring
6 -
Guide assembly, bottom
7 -
Bearing roller
8 -
Sliding door

If the front end of the door does not line up flush with the outer panel, the lower guide assembly must be relocated
If the front end of the door does not line up vertically, the roller arm must be relocated

Adjusting upper guide block

Adjust the height of the guide block so that the minimum possible clearance exists between the block and guide rail

1 -
Guide block assembly
2 -
Spacer for roller
3 -
Washer
4 -
Bolt
5 -
Cap
6 -
Sliding door

If the top of the door does not line up with the outer panel, the cap must be removed and the guide block itself must be relocated

A check must be carried out with the door in the fully open position and in the closed position

Adjusting striker plate

To adjust the sliding door at the rear, the striker plate can be repositioned both horizontally and vertically.

Note:

If the striker plate is readjusted, the hinge fitting must also be readjusted.

Adjusting remote control striker plate

Loosen off the striker plate slightly, and close the door from the inside to centralize the striker plate.
Hold striker plate tightly, open door and tighten the two socket head screws.
Having done this, one should be able to lock the door easily from the outside using the key and from the inside using the Iocking lever. If this is not the case, then up two spacers should be placed underneath the striker plate.

Adjusting hinge link

Before installing the sliding door, tighten the front hinge fitting bolt (1) in the lowest position.
Screw in rear bolt (2) loosely.
Install sliding door and close from the outside.

Check the gap at front and rear of door and, if necessary, correct by loosening the front hinge securing bolt.

Retighten bolt
Tightening torque: 23 Nm

Using a screwdriver, lever the hinge guide downwards until the roller (3) is located in the centre guide rail.

Carefully open sliding door, supporting it at the rear near the waistline rib at the same time.

Tighten rear bolts (2).
Tightening torque: 23 Nm

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
