Gearbox removal & installation: Peugeot Expert III BE4R (EW10A)

Step-by-step gearbox removal & installation for the Peugeot Expert III BE4R (EW10A): 31 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Gearbox removal on the Peugeot Expert III with the 2.0 16V EW10A petrol engine and BE4R manual gearbox. The front of the van goes up on stands, the battery is disconnected only after the stated wait following ignition off, and the gearbox oil is drained. From there the subframe and drive shafts come out, the drive shaft holes are plugged, and the starter, air filter housing, gearbox earth cable and speed sensor are removed. The clutch slave cylinder is unbolted with its pipes connected and the clutch pedal left alone. The gear-shift mechanism is released with the special tool. The engine sits on a trolley jack, the gearbox on a hoist, and the whole unit is lowered slightly to reach the upper bolts before the gearbox is withdrawn.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
