Testing activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80 — AUDI
Testing activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80 on Audi: factory workshop procedure for engines ABK, ADW. Full factory text, tools and checks.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
ADW
Notes:
Solenoid valve 1 for the activated charcoal filter is closed under the following conditions:
At idling speed and so long as the lambda control is not active
Fitting location => Pos.
24-7
.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary equipment required
Hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 or V.A.G 1526 A
Voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B
Fault reader V.A.G 1551 (or vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552) with wire V.A.G 1551/1
Adapter set V.A.G 1594 A
Test box V.A.G 1598/18
Testing for leaks
ACF solenoid valve -N80 remains closed when de-energised.
Disconnect hoses from ACF valve but leave the electrical connector plugged in.
Start final control diagnosis and actuate ACF valve => Page
01-36
.
While final control diagnosis is running, blow into solenoid valve to check whether it opens properly. If necessary, fit a new solenoid valve.
Testing internal resistance
Unplug connector on ACF valve.
Set hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 to resistance measuring range and connect to contacts of the ACF valve using test leads from V.A.G1594 A.
Specification: 20 ... 28 ω
If the specification is not obtained:
Fit a new ACF valve.
Testing power supply
Test requirements:
Fuse S75 in red holder in electronics box in passenger footwell OK
Unplug connector on ACF valve.
Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B to contact 1 (positive) of the connector of the AFC valve and to engine earth using auxiliary wires from V.A.G 1594 A.
Switch the ignition on.
The LED should light up.
If the LED does not light up:
Use current flow diagram to eliminate open circuit in wiring/short circuit.
Testing actuation
Test requirements:
Fuse S75 in red holder in electronics box in passenger footwell OK
Unplug connector on ACF valve.
Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B to the contacts of the connector of the AFC valve using auxiliary wires from V.A.G 1594 A.
Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit => Page
01-2
.
Start final control diagnosis and actuate ACF valve => Page
01-36
.
The LED should flash.
If the LED lamp does not flash or if it lights up continuously:
With the ignition switched off, connect test box V.A.G 1598/18 to connector for engine control unit => Page
24-16
.
Test for open circuit and short to positive or earth in the following wiring connections:
Connector / of -N80 / Contact · Test box V.A.G 1598/18 / / Socket
2 · 33
Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.
If the wiring is OK, fit a new Digifant control unit => Page
24-18
.
Notes:
After replacing the Digifant control unit , it is necessary to adapt the control unit and throttle valve potentiometer to each other=> Page
24-92
.
After replacing the Digifant control unit on vehicles fitted with an automatic gearbox, it is necessary to adapt the automatic gearbox control unit and the throttle valve potentiometer to each other => Page
24-93
.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
