Removing gearbox - vehicles with 2.0 ltr. TFSI engine (TD6) — AUDI
Removing gearbox - vehicles with 2.0 ltr. TFSI engine (TD6) on Audi: 46 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
On the Audi Q3 (8U, 2011–2018) and the 84 code with the 2.0 litre TFSI engine (TD6), the dual clutch gearbox comes out downwards after the subframe and bevel box have been removed. Before that, the selector goes into P, the wheels are set straight ahead, and the battery, tray and starter come out. Earthing yourself before touching the gearbox connector protects the mechatronic unit from static. The selector cable is pressed off its ball socket, the gear oil cooler hoses are clamped and plugged, and the upper bolts are removed. The engine and gearbox are then held on support bracket 10-222A with both spindles, the exhaust is split and tied up within its bending limit, the drive shafts are detached and the assembly is lowered to distance (a) so the gearbox support can be fitted.
🧭 Before you start
Prepare the car in P with the wheels straight, remove battery, tray and starter, and take out the subframe on locating pins along with the bevel box. Disconnect earth, the gearbox connector and selector cable, clamp off the oil cooler hoses and remove the top bolts. Hang the assembly on both spindles, detach intake and air pipes, the exhaust and both drive shafts, unbolt the mounting and lower to distance (a). Fit the gearbox support with hook, safety support and pin 3282/34, remove bolts (4 … 8) and lower the gearbox.
Fits: Audi Q3 (8U, 2011–2018); platform code 84
- Special tools named: 3094
Don't miss
- Touch an earthed point before handling the gearbox connector; static can damage the mechatronic unit.
- Fit locating pins T10096 when removing the subframe.
- Secure eye-head bolt 3368 with a nut or flange nut before loading it.
- The front exhaust flexible joint must not bend beyond 10°.
- Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
- Take the engine's weight evenly on both spindles without lifting it.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
