Removing and installing particulate filter - vehicles with engine code CPNB — AUDI

Removing and installing particulate filter - vehicles with engine code CPNB on Audi: 15 steps, engines CDUD, CGQB, CPNB, CTBA.

On the Audi Q5 2008–2017 (8R) with engine code CPNB, the particulate filter is mounted right on the turbocharger and comes out from above after a fair amount of clearing. The rear noise insulation goes first so a nut underneath can be removed, then the plenum chamber partition panel is taken out to open the top of the engine bay. Several connectors are taken out of their brackets, the pressure differential sender G505 is unclipped and moved aside, and the NOx sender control unit J583 is unbolted and moved clear. The remaining nuts, some reached from above, are removed and the filter is lifted off the turbocharger. Two things decide the result: new seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts, and aligning the exhaust stress-free before tightening.

15 steps 8 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Remove the rear noise insulation and the bottom nut, then the plenum chamber partition panel. Unplug and move clear the wiring, G505 and J583, remove the upper nuts and detach the filter from the turbocharger. Refit with new seals and self-locking nuts, route the wiring correctly, align the exhaust free of stress, refit the panels and run the adaption in Guided Functions if the filter was renewed.

Fits: Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017)

  • Renewed: seals

Don't miss

  • Follow the exhaust system safety precautions; parts may still be hot.
  • Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts on the filter-to-turbo joint.
  • Route the electrical connections as specified so nothing touches the hot exhaust.
  • Align the exhaust system stress-free before final tightening.
  • After renewing the filter, perform the adaption in Guided Functions.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
