Removing and installing master cylinder: Audi TT Mk1
Step-by-step removing and installing master cylinder for the Audi TT Mk1: 29 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Taking the clutch master cylinder out on cars with platform code 8N is less about the cylinder and more about the pedal box. The master cylinder cannot be removed without taking out the whole clutch pedal mounting bracket. Under the bonnet the air cleaner housing comes out so you can clamp the reservoir supply hose and pull the pipe/hose assembly from the cylinder. Inside, the driver's storage compartment, the clutch pedal switches if fitted, the connecting plate and the bracket nuts come off, then the over-centre spring is removed with assembly clip T10111. The cylinder swings out of the bracket. Getting the operating rod clip and pedal engagement right, then bleeding the system, decides the result.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the air cleaner housing, clamp the supply hose with 3094, disconnect it and pull out the pipe/hose assembly after removing its clip, sealing the pipe end. Inside the car, remove the storage compartment, pedal switches if fitted and the complete pedal bracket. Take off the over-centre spring with T10111, remove the pedal stop and swing the cylinder out. On refitting, make sure the operating rod clip is on, the pedal locks, then bleed the clutch.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
