Step-by-step removing and installing glass panel for the Audi Q7: 52 steps, 3 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)
Don't miss
- If panel is removed, do not move sunroof mechanism; otherwise wind deflector can be damaged (scratched or similar). — Place panel in installation position on tilt mechanisms and screw in bolts (3) slightly.
- Before removing panel »2« you must remove panel »3«.
- Turn rotary control beyond comfort setting.
- Small markings on the plastic edge around the panel help you to identify the position of the bolts .
- Before inserting panel »2« you must re-install the spacers at the front bolted connections between the panel »2« and the sunroof frame. — Insert panel to align with bolt positions.
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 4.5 Nm (3.3 lb-ft) | Finally tighten centre bolts also |
| 4.5 Nm (3.3 lb-ft) | Tighten bolts (5) at sides |
| 4.5 Nm (3.3 lb-ft) | Tighten bolts at front |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Tilt panel »1«.
- Unclip trim on side towards centre of vehicle.
- Tilt the panel.
- Detach trim (2) sideways from tilt mechanisms.
- Unscrew bolts (4) and lift out panel.
- ⚠ If panel is removed, do not move sunroof mechanism; otherwise wind deflector can be damaged (scratched or similar). — Place panel in installation position on tilt mechanisms and screw in bolts (3) slightly.
- Close panel and align to correct height at front and rear.
- First tighten front bolts, then rear bolts (4) alternately to specified torque.
- Finally tighten centre bolts also to 4.5 Nm. — 4.5 Nm (3.3 lb-ft)
- Press trim back onto tilt mechanisms.
- Perform adaption .
- ⚠ Please note tightening sequence: front, rear, centre. — After adjusting panel, tighten bolts to specified torque in the sequence 1, 2 and 3. [Note: Before removing panel »2« you must remove panel »3«.]
- After removing panel »3« move panel »1« all the way to the rear. [Note: Turn rotary control beyond comfort setting.]
- Unscrew bolts (3) (left and right) from above. [Note: To adjust the height of panel »2« there are two spacers (2) at the front of the panel below the bolted connections.Remove these spacers after removing the panel to make sure they do not fall into the guide duct and cause malfunctions.]

- Move panel »1« to the »tilt« position.
- Tighten bolts at front to 4.5 Nm. — 4.5 Nm (3.3 lb-ft)
- Close panel »1« and panel »3« and check adjustment .
- Carry out adaption for panel »1« and »3«.
- Spacers must be inserted between panel »2« and sunroof frame »4« for height adjustment. [Note: Small markings on the edges around the panels are provided to make it easier to find the bolts for securing the panels.]
- Pull interior seal back slightly below the markings (arrow) and unscrew the bolts located beneath the seal. [Note: Interior seal is not shown in the illustration.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
