Removing and installing drive plate with overload protection — AUDI
Removing and installing drive plate with overload protection on Audi: 10 steps, 1 torque figure. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi R8 (4S, 2015–)
- Opens: refrigerant (A/C)
Don't miss
- Use commercially available strap wrench (with fabric strap) to counterhold drive plate (C).
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft) | Tighten bolts (A |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Danger from escaping pressurised refrigerant.Frostbite on skin and other parts of the body.Extract the refrigerant and then immediately open up the refrigerant circuit.Extract the refrigerant again if more than 10 minutes have passed since the initial extraction and the refrigerant circuit has not been opened up. Renewed evaporation leads to the build-up of pressure in the refrigerant circuit. — Switch off ignition.
- Discharge refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant circuit; Working with the air conditioner service station).
- Remove air conditioner compressor Removing and installing air conditioner compressor.
- Remove bolts (A). [Note: Use commercially available strap wrench (with fabric strap) to counterhold drive plate (C).]
- Attach drive plate with overload protection (B) to drive plate (C).
- Insert and hand-tighten bolts (A).
- Check concentricity of drive plate (B)Checking and adjusting concentricity of drive plate with overload protection.
- Tighten bolts (A) (tightening torque: 10 Nm). — 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft)
- Check concentricity of drive plate (B) again Checking and adjusting concentricity of drive plate with overload protection.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
