  • Timing position: the crankshaft or camshaft is set and locked during this job
  • Special tools named: locking pin

Don't miss

  • After the gearbox has been removed the engine is supported with support bracket10-222 A and the stop for the torque reaction support is detached.
  • Make sure that the lock carrier is installed on the vehicle before performing the following steps. — Detach support bracket10-222 A from engine (attached previously in order to remove gearbox).
  • Place a washer under the bolt heads to make sure the chain does not get trapped by the bolts. — Attach special wrench T40049 at rear end of crankshaft using two old securing bolts (arrows) for dual-mass flywheel.
  • To avoid any risk of injury, do not rotate the crankshaft while feeling for the TDC hole with your finger. — Turn crankshaft in normal direction of rotation to TDC position.
  • Mark running direction of drive chain for auxiliary drives with paint.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
