Removing and installing
dash panel temperature sensor
G56
Note
G56

is only installed in vehicles with automatically controlled air conditioners. On vehicles with a manually controlled air conditioner, the opening in the storage area (or knee bolster) on the driver side is closed off using a sealing cap with no electrical function.
The
G56

measures 3 different values, which cannot be checked using workshop equipment. The
Climatronic control unit
J255
uses these measured values to calculate the temperature in the passenger compartment. The 3 measured values can vary depending on the ambient conditions and may only be approximately the same after a longer period of operation or no operation

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
