Removing
Note:
Mark brake pads on removal if they are to be re-used. Re-install in same position to prevent uneven braking.
Raise vehicle.
Remove front wheels.
Use screwdriver to prise retaining springs for brake pads out of brake caliper housing and detach.
Detach caps -arrows-.
Unscrew both guide pins from brake caliper and take out.
Detach brake caliper housing and set down such that weight of caliper cannot strain/damage brake hose.
Take brake pad out of brake caliper housing/detach from brake carrier.
Installing
Press back piston into brake caliper housing.
Notes:
Before pressing back piston, use bleeder bottle to draw off brake fluid from reservoir. If this is not done, brake fluid may escape and cause damage if fluid has been topped up in the meantime.
Attention:
Brake fluid is poisonous and is never to be sucked off by mouth with a hose.
Before inserting new brake pads, clean brake calipers thoroughly to remove dirt (grease-free). When doing so, pay particular attention to removing any remnants of protective sheeting at contact surfaces of outer brake pads.
Insert brake pad with retaining spring in brake caliper housing (piston).
Note:
Inner pad (with expanding spring) is marked with an arrow. Arrow must face in direction of rotation of brake disc when driving forwards. Incorrect assembly can cause noise.
Pull protective sheeting off backplate of outer brake pad.
Position outer brake pad on brake carrier.
Screw (25 Nm) brake caliper housing with the two guide pins to brake carrier.
Insert both caps.
Insert retaining spring in brake caliper housing.
Note:
After insertion in both holes, retaining spring must be pressed beneath brake carrier. Compensation for outer brake pad wear cannot be provided in the event of incorrect installation, thus increasing the pedal travel.
Attention:
After fitting brake pads, press brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary to ensure that pads become properly seated.
Fit wheels and tighten to 120 Nm.
Check brake fluid level and top up if necessary.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
