Removing and installing bracket for seat trim (front)/compressor/control unit - multi-contour seat — AUDI

Removing and installing bracket for seat trim (front)/compressor/control unit - multi-contour seat on Audi: 17 steps.

On multi-contour seats in the Audi A6/A7 (4G, C7 2011–2018) and the other platform code listed below, a single bracket at the front of the seat carries the front trim, the pneumatic compressor and the seat and steering column adjustment control unit. Replacing it means unplugging the compressor, pulling its pneumatic line off at the catch, removing the control unit and the sill-side trim with the front trim, freeing the seat cover piping and wiring, and unbolting the bracket. Because the seat contains pyrotechnic parts, static has to be discharged before any connector is touched. The things that decide it are releasing the pneumatic catch carefully rather than pulling, and making sure the bracket tabs engage all retainers on refitting.

🧭 Before you start

Discharge static, unplug the compressor and release the pneumatic line at its catch. Remove the control unit with memory function and the sill-side trim with the front trim, disengage the seat cover piping, move the wiring clear and unbolt the bracket. Fit the new bracket by sliding it in so the tabs engage the retainers, then refit in reverse.

Fits: Audi A6/A7 C7 (4G, 2011–2018); platform code 4X

Don't miss

  • Discharge static before touching any connector on a seat with pyrotechnic parts.
  • Release the catch before pulling the pneumatic line off the compressor; do not tug on the line.
  • Free the seat cover piping and wiring at the bracket before unbolting it.
  • Tabs must engage all retainers when sliding in the bracket.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
