Installing gearbox on vehicles with 2.7 ltr. TDI engine: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 / A4 B6/B7

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 (8H), Audi A4 B6/B7 (8E)

• Opens: gearbox oil

Don't miss

• Before installing gearbox, tie electrical wiring off to one side so that it cannot be trapped between the engine and the gearbox.
• Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.Before installing, lightly lubricate ball socket on selector lever cable with polycarbamide greaseG 052 142 A2.
• There is a risk of damage to the gearbox due to inadequate ATF cooling.All plugs inserted in ATF pipes and gearbox when dismantling must be removed. — Install ATF pipes with new O-rings .

📋 Procedure

1. Check that dowel sleeves for centralising engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block; install if necessary.
2. Before installing gearbox, tie electrical wiring off to one side so that it cannot be trapped between the engine and the gearbox.
3. Attach intermediate plate or spacer plate onto dowel sleeves.
4. Lift gearbox high enough to be able to install selector lever cable. [Note: Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.Before installing, lightly lubricate ball socket on selector lever cable with polycarbamide greaseG 052 142 A2.]
5. Press selector shaft lever (A) at gearbox to rear as far as it will go (arrow) until parking lock engages.

6. Raise gearbox carefully and move to installation position using gearbox support3282.
7. Bolt gearbox onto engine with new bolts.
8. Raise gearbox slightly at rear to install lower bolts for securing gearbox to engine.
9. Install gearbox support .
10. Install tunnel cross member with subframe 40.
11. ⚠ There is a risk of damage to the gearbox due to inadequate ATF cooling.All plugs inserted in ATF pipes and gearbox when dismantling must be removed. — Install ATF pipes with new O-rings .
12. Install front exhaust pipe 26.
13. Bolt drive shafts to gearbox flanges 40.
14. Electrical connections and routing .
15. Follow the steps required after connecting the battery 27.
16. Check selector lever cable adjustment .
17. Check gear oil level in front final drive .
18. Check and top up ATF level . [Note: Tightening torques apply only to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated or black-finished nuts and bolts.Additional lubricant such as engine or gearbox oil may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.Do not use parts which have been degreased.Tolerance for tightening torques ±15%.]
