Draining fuel tank, all except USA vehicles: Audi Q5 2.0 (CADA, CAEB, CALB, CDNB, …)

Step-by-step draining fuel tank, all except USA vehicles for the Audi Q5 2.0: 36 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Draining the fuel tank on the Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017) and platform 83, for all markets except the USA. The tank is emptied through the fuel delivery unit flange under the right-hand section of the rear seat, using the fuel extractor with its adapter set. Before anything is opened, the battery is disconnected and the extractor's earth wire fixed to bare body metal, as static can ignite fuel vapour. The flange cover and connectors come off, pressure is released under a cloth, and about 10 litres are drawn through the supply connection. Then the locking ring is unscrewed with wrench T10202, the flange lifted slightly and the hose pushed in to take out the rest.

🧭 Before you start

Disconnect the battery, earth the fuel extractor to bare metal and fit the extraction adapter. Remove the right rear seat section and the flange cover, unplug the connectors and release pressure carefully under a cloth. Extract about 10 litres through the supply connection, then unscrew the locking ring, lift the flange slightly and extract the remainder through the opening. Refit the flange.

Fits: Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017); platform code 83

  • Opens: fuel
  • Special tools named: VAS 5190

Don't miss

  • Earth the fuel extractor to bare body metal before starting.
  • Release fuel pressure slowly, with a cloth wrapped round the connection.
  • On cars with an auxiliary heater, also disconnect the metering pump line at the flange.
  • Observe the battery disconnection procedure to protect the electronics.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
