Checking system pressure and residual pressure: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 / A4 B6/B7 1.8 (AMB, AVJ, BEX, BFB, …)
Step-by-step checking system pressure and residual pressure for the Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 / A4 B6/B7 1.8: 37 steps.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 (8H), Audi A4 B6/B7 (8E)
- Special tools named: V.A.G 1318/17
Don't miss
- Open cut-off valve on K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318. Lever must point in direction of flow.
- Do not attach hose clamp up to 25 mm3094 directly to fuel pipe - risk of damage.
- Before detaching pressure gauge, dissipate fuel pressure by opening cut-off valve. When doing so, hold vessel in front of connection.Assemble the fuel supply system in reverse order.
📋 Procedure
- Briefly open fuel tank filler cap (to release pressure).
- Remove engine cover panel.
- ⚠ The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection. — Open the union (1) and catch escaping fuel with a cloth.
- Connect K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318 with adapter setV.A.G 1318/6+7 to fuel supply line.
- Open cut-off valve on K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318. Lever must point in direction of flow.
- Start the engine and run at idling speed.
- Measure the fuel pressure.
- Switch off ignition.
- Check leak-tightness and residual pressure by watching the drop in pressure on the pressure gauge.
- Start the engine and run at idling speed.
- Allow pressure to build up, then switch off ignition. At the same time, close cut-off valve of K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318 (so that lever is perpendicular to direction of flow (arrow)).
- Observe pressure drop on K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318.
- Check K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318 for leaks.
- Check pipe connections, O-rings on fuel rail and injectors for leaks.
- Check pressure regulator in fuel filter.
- Remove rear seat bench 72.
- Detach cover for flange (left-side) (arrows).
- Disconnect fuel return line (arrows) from flange (left side of vehicle).
- Connect adapter hose V.A.G 1318/17-1 to return line.
- Clamp off adapter hose using hose clamp up to 25 mm3094. [Note: Do not attach hose clamp up to 25 mm3094 directly to fuel pipe - risk of damage.]
- Start the engine and run at idling speed.
- Allow pressure to build up, then switch off ignition. At the same time, close cut-off valve of K-Jetronic pressure testerV.A.G 1318 (so that lever is perpendicular to direction of flow (arrow)).
- Observe pressure drop on pressure gauge.
- Check fuel pump non-return valve.
- Renew fuel filter Fuel supply system, petrol engines; Rep. Gr. 20.
- Test pressure gauge for leaks. [Note: Before detaching pressure gauge, dissipate fuel pressure by opening cut-off valve. When doing so, hold vessel in front of connection.Assemble the fuel supply system in reverse order.]
- Detach trim in luggage compartment.
- If necessary, fold forward right backrest of rear seat bench.
- Detach cover for flange (left-side) (arrows).
- Detach fuel return line (2) from flange.
Gr. 20. [Note: Before detaching pressure gauge, dissipate fuel pressure by opening cut-off valve. When doing so, hold vessel in front of connection.Assemble the fuel supply system in reverse order.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
