Notes:
Idling switch -F60 and full throttle switch -F81 have a common connector.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox have the throttle valve potentiometer -G69 in addition to idling switch -F60 and full throttle switch -F81. The switches are integrated into the throttle valve potentiometer housing, but have their own connector

.
Check display in display zone 9.
Specification: 5
Slightly open throttle valve.
The value must drop to 4
Window between throttle flap stop and adjustment screw 0.15 ... 0.50 mm (measured with feeler gauge)
Push throttle flap lever into full throttle.
The value must increase to 6.
If the display does not change:
Checking idling switch -F60
Unplug connector from throttle valve switch.
Note:
Idling switch -F60 and full throttle switch -F81 have a common connector.
Connect test lead V.A.G 1501 to throttle valve switch -arrow-.
Connect multimeter for resistance measuring between contacts 1 and 2 of test lead V.A.G 1501.
Specification: 0 ω
Slightly open throttle valve.
Specification: ∞ω (no flow)
Let throttle valve return slowly to closed position and check starting point of idling switch with a feeler gauge between throttle valve stop and stop bolt.
Specification: 0 ω with window 0.15 ... 0.50 mm
If the specified values are not obtained:
Replace throttle valve part.
Check full throttle switch -F81
Connect multimeter for resistance measurement between contacts 2 and 3 of test lead V.A.G 1501.
Specification: ∞ω (no continuity)
Push throttle valve lever into full throttle.
Specification: 0 ω
If the specified values are not obtained:
Replace throttle valve part.
If the specified values are attained:
Checking wiring
Connect up multimeter as follows to measure voltage.
Connector / Contact · Measure to
2 · Battery positive
Specification: approx. battery voltage
If the specification is not obtained:
Eliminate open circuit or short circuit using the current flow diagram.
If the specification is obtained:
With the ignition switched off, use adapter V.A.G 1598/3 to connect test box V.A.G 1598 A to plug connection of engine control unit (control unit remains disconnected) => Page

.
Check for open circuit and short to positive or earth in the following wiring connections:
Connector / Contact · Test box V.A.G 1598 A / Socket
1 · 28
3 · 32
Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
