.
Test display in display zone 4.
Specification:
4. Position = 0 (idling switch closed)
Note:
For the test described the readouts 1 ... 3 and 5 ... 8 of the 8 digit readout are of no significance and can therefore be ignored for the test described.
Open throttle valve slightly.
(0.15 ... 0.5 mm).

HELP
Select function XX
Indicated on display:
Enter "06" for "End output" function and confirm entry with Q key.
If the specified values are not obtained:
With the ignition switched off, connect test box V.A.G 1598/18 to connector for engine control unit => Page

.
Test for open circuit and short to positive or earth in the following wiring connections:
-F60 connector / / Contact · Test box / V.A.G 1598/18 / socket
1 · 18
2 · 35
Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.
If the wiring is OK, check the setting of the idling speed switch
Adjusting idling switch
Remove the throttle valve unit.
Set hand held multimeter V.A.G 1526 to resistance measuring range and connect to the contacts of the idling speed switch using test leads from V.A.G 1594 A.
Specification: 0 ω
Insert an 0.15 ... 0.5 mm feeler gauge between the throttle valve stop and the adjuster screw.
Specification: ∞ ω
If the specified values are not obtained:
Loosen the bolts of the idling speed switch and alter the position of the switch in the slots.
Insert an 0.3 mm feeler gauge between the throttle valve stop and the adjuster screw
Specified value: ∞ ω
Remove the feeler gauge.
Specification: 0 ω
If the specified values are attained:
Tighten the bolts of the idling speed switch and secure with locking varnish.
If the specified values are not obtained:
Replace the idling speed switch.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
