Checking fuel pump delivery rate - vehicles with 10-cylinder TFSI engine (Audi RS6) — AUDI

Checking fuel pump delivery rate - vehicles with 10-cylinder TFSI engine (Audi RS6) on Audi: 23 steps, engines AUK, BAT, BBJ, BDW.

The RS6 on the A6 C6 (4F) platform with the 10-cylinder TFSI engine has its fuel pump delivery measured at the flange under the rear seat with a pressure tester holding a set back-pressure. The rear seat bench and right flange cover come off, the connector is unplugged and the remote control wired in, powered from the positive terminal with contact 5 earthed. Fuel pressure is released under a cloth, the pipe disconnected and the tester adapters fitted. With the cut-off valve open, run the pump and slowly close the valve to build pressure, then leave it untouched. Empty the container, run for 15 seconds and compare the volume with the diagram. Not moving the valve between setting and measuring is what makes the reading valid.

🧭 Before you start

Remove the rear seat bench and flange cover, unplug the pump and connect the remote control to the positive terminal and earth. Depressurise and disconnect the fuel pipe, fit the tester with its adapters and test hose into a measuring container. Build pressure by running the pump while slowly closing the cut-off valve, then leave it set, empty the container, run for 15 seconds and compare with the diagram before refitting the seat.

Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)

  • Opens: fuel
  • Special tools named: V.A.G 1348, V.A.G 1348/3, V.A.G 1318/17

Don't miss

  • Wrap the connection in a cloth and loosen carefully; the system is under high pressure.
  • Once pressure is set, do not move the cut-off valve again.
  • Empty the measuring container before the timed 15-second run.
  • Pump voltage roughly 2 volts below battery voltage when running is normal.
  • Tape off the second adapter contact to prevent a short circuit.

📋 Procedure

  1. Remove rear seat bench 72.
  2. Unscrew cover for flange (right-side) (arrows).
  3. Unplug electrical connector (arrow) at flange.
  4. Connect remote controlV.A.G 1348/3A for V.A.G 1348 to contact (1) using adapter cable V.A.G 1348/3-3 and test lead from auxiliary measuring setV.A.G 1594C.
  5. Tape off 2nd connector contact of adapter cable V.A.G 1348/3-3 with insulating tape (arrow) to prevent short circuits.

  1. Move switch of remote controlV.A.G 1348/3A for V.A.G 1348 to front of engine compartment.
  2. Open cover (A) above positive terminal.
  3. Connect crocodile clamp to positive terminal.
  4. Connect contact (5) to the body (earth) using a test lead from auxiliary measuring setV.A.G 1594C.
  5. Remove filler cap from fuel filler neck.
  6. Open retainer for hoses (arrow).
  7. Detach protective sleeve (3). [Note: Disregard (items 1, 2).]
  8. Screw connectorV.A.G 1318/23 and adapter V.A.G 1318/17-1 onto K-Jetronic testerV.A.G 1318.
  9. ⚠ Risk of injury - fuel system operates under high pressure. To reduce the pressure in the fuel system, wrap a clean cloth around the connection and carefully loosen the connection. — Disconnect fuel pipe (1) (lift release tab).
  10. Fit adapter V.A.G 1318/17-1 onto disconnected fuel line.
  11. Screw adapterV.A.G 1318/11 onto K-Jetronic testerV.A.G 1318. Attach test hose (arrow) and hold end of hose in measuring container.
  12. Open cut-off valve on pressure tester. Lever must point in direction of flow.
  13. Build up pressure in fuel system by pressing the remote control and slowly closing the cut-off valve on the pressure tester.
  14. From this point on do not move position of cut-off valve.
  15. Empty the measuring container.
  16. Press remote control switch for 15 seconds.
  17. Compare amount of fuel delivered with minimum delivery shown in diagram (cm3/15 sec.). [Note: Voltage at fuel pump with engine stationary and pump running is approx. 2 volts less than battery voltage.]
  18. Install rear seat bench 72.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
