This repair is restricted to replacing the seals and if necessary the rack. Steering boxes which have been damaged in an accident must always be replaced!

For problem-free and successful repairs the greatest possible consciousness, cleanliness, expertise and the correct tools in good condition are necessary.

Notes:

Thoroughly clean hose connections and their immediate vicinity before loosening.
Thoroughly clean work place (bench, vice) before commencing work and if necessary cover work surface e.g. with paper towels.
Only place parts which have been removed on a clean surface. If the repair cannot be completed immediately, cover parts.
Do not use fluffy cloths.
Only unpack replacement parts immediately before fitting.
Only use genuine packed parts.
Corroded racks must not be reused.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
