Replacing cornering light bulbs L148/L149 — VW

Replacing cornering light bulbs L148/L149 on VW: 10 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Cornering light bulbs L148 and L149 on the VW Touran I (platform 1T) are changed from the back of the headlight without taking the headlight out. Ignition off and key removed, the cover pulls off, and the bulb sits clipped into the reflector with its connector still attached. Pushing the connector in the direction of the arrow loosens the bulb; the holder is then drawn out of the reflector with enough care for the wiring length, and the bulb pulls straight out of the connector. What decides the job: never touch the glass of the new bulb, as grease from the fingers clouds it once it heats, and seat the cover cap properly afterwards, because water getting into the headlight damages it permanently. Finish by checking the headlight functions and the beam setting.

10 steps

🧭 Before you start

The cover is pulled off and the connector pushed in until the bulb comes loose in the reflector. The holder with the bulb is drawn out of the reflector, minding the wiring length, and the bulb is pulled straight out of the connector. The new bulb is guided into the housing and pushed into the reflector until it engages audibly, the cover is refitted so it seals, and the headlight is checked for function and setting.

Fits: VW Touran I (1T, 2003–2015)

Don't miss

  • Push the connector in first; the bulb is clipped into the reflector and loosens with it.
  • Do not touch the glass of the new bulb.
  • New bulb must engage audibly in the reflector.
  • Cover cap must seat properly; water ingress ruins the headlight.
  • Check headlight function and beam setting afterwards.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
