Removing, vehicles 05.2010 ►: VW Touran I

Step-by-step removing, vehicles 05.2010 ► for the VW Touran I: 20 steps, 3 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.

This covers removing the luggage compartment side panel trim on the Touran I (1T) from 05.2010 onwards. It is mostly a trim-stripping exercise: both rear seat rows come out, then the securing rods, storage compartment, B-pillar trims (upper and lower), rear sill mouldings, scuff plates, luggage floor, rear lock carrier cover, roof end strip and D-pillar trim. The C-pillar trims are only separated from their fasteners. With the roller blind caps off, the side panel is held by a handful of small bolts and the tie-down rings. Two things matter: the bolts are small and the torques low, so do not overtighten them on refit, and check every clip and fastener for damage before the panel goes back, renewing any that are broken.

20 steps 3 torque figures

🧭 Before you start

Switch off the ignition and remove the second and third row seats, then work round the luggage area removing the surrounding trims, floor, lock carrier cover, roof end strip and D-pillar trim. Free the C-pillar trims and lift off the two roller blind caps. Remove the side panel bolts (1.5 Nm and 4.5 Nm) and the tie-down ring bolts (6 Nm), take off the rings and detach the panel. On refit, inspect the fasteners and renew any damaged ones.

Fits: VW Touran I (1T, 2003–2015)

  • Renewed: if necessary

Don't miss

  • The upper B-pillar trims can come off without removing the front seat belt end anchors.
  • Bolts (1) and (3) take only 1.5 Nm and bolt (2) 4.5 Nm; tighten by hand-feel with a small torque wrench.
  • Each tie-down ring has two bolts at 6 Nm; note which ring goes where before removal.
  • Check all fasteners on the side panel for damage before refitting and renew any that are cracked.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
