Removing and installing water deflector: VW Polo 6C
Step-by-step removing and installing water deflector for the VW Polo 6C: 10 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Renewing the bonded water deflector strip at the edge of the windscreen on the platform code listed below. The strip is held only by adhesive tape, so removal is a matter of warming it with a hot air blower, lifting a corner with wedge T10383 and pulling it firmly off. The work that follows matters more: every trace of old adhesive is taken off the glass with the adhesive strip remover and the surface cleaned. The new strip is offered up, its bonding area marked and masked, cleaned with a lint-free cloth, and primed with glass/paint primer in a single, uninterrupted pass so that one complete, even film covers the glass. Only then is the backing removed, the strip aligned to the roof and A-pillar, and pressed down hard.
🧭 Before you start
Warm the strip, lift a corner with T10383 and pull it off. Remove residual adhesive, clean the glass, then position the new strip, mark and mask the bonding area, clean it and apply one even coat of primer, wiping it off slightly. Remove the backing, align the strip to the roof and A-pillar and press it firmly into place.
Fits: VW Polo 6C (2014–2017)
Don't miss
- Warm the strip before lifting it so the adhesive tape releases.
- Remove all residual adhesive from the windscreen before bonding.
- Apply primer in one continuous motion, one layer only, as a complete film.
- Align to the roof and A-pillar before pressing the strip down firmly.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
