Removing and installing trim panels for roof frame, window strips and pillars on caravelle carat — VW
Removing and installing trim panels for roof frame, window strips and pillars on caravelle carat on VW: factory workshop procedure.
Workshop procedure for VW — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
Important:
The individual trim panels are fitted in such a way that each panel overlaps the panel adjacent to it. When removing the trim panels, the individual panels must be removed starting at the rear of the vehicle and working forwards.
The trim panels are levered carefully away from the bodywork with the aid of a large screwdriver or a similar tool.
Even if great care is taken when performing this dismantling work, some panels may show signs of cracking and, in this case, they must be replaced by new panels.

Installing
Use a carpet knife or electric cutter (V.A.G 1561) to cut away remains of adhesive.
Note:
If any damage is caused to the paintwork when cutting away the remains of the adhesive.
Proceed as follows:
1 K anti-corrosion primer
ALN 002 003 04
2K primer/filler, standard
ALN 766 001
with hardener
ALZ 010 000
The two components should be mixed in a 1:1 ratio
2K acrylic top coat
ALN 769...
or in the case of metallic paintwork
Metallic undercoat
ALD 645...
2K acrylic varnish
ALN 769 000/001
After the paint has cured:
Paint primer
D 009 300
Depending on the nature of the paint damage and whether the area concerned is in the line of vision, the paint is applied with a brush or using a spray can or paint spray gun.
O · = · PUR adhesive sealant / D009 100 03
= · Universal adhesive D 001 200 on trim panel and body in white (approx. 2 minutes flash-off time)
Apply approx. 1 cm3 of PUR adhesive sealant to areas 50 mm. in diameter to which adhesive is to be applied (arrow A). (They are marked on the trim panels and already roughened.)
Apply universal adhesive D 001 200 between the bonding points and on the bare bodywork.
After the trim panels have been stuck on, auxiliary fixtures (e.g. lengths of wood) should be used to hold the panels in place for approx. 1.5 hours.
Note:
To prevent indentations or damage to the trim panels, wrap cleaning cloths or something similar round the wood.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
