Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: platform codes 6E1, 6X1
- Renewed: security seal
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Before touching components of the battery isolation unit, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge himself. This can be done by done by touching a piece of earthed metal such as a water pipe, a heating pipe or steel girders. — Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
- First disconnect battery clamp from battery negative terminal.
- Then disconnect battery clamp (4) and terminal 30 supply from battery positive terminal (3).
- Separate multi-pin connector (5).
- If necessary remove anti-tamper seal, press tab downwards (arrow) and separate multi-pin connector.
- Loosen the union nut on threaded connection to connecting wire.
- Place an open jaw spanner on each of the halves of the threaded connection (1) and (2) then turn the halves of the threaded connection opposite to each other to loosen the tapered joint.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
