Removing and installing tank for reducing agent, Sharan — VW
Removing and installing tank for reducing agent, Sharan on VW: 30 steps, engines CUVA, CUVC, CUVE, CUWA.
The reducing agent tank on the Sharan II (2010 onwards) with the CUVA, CUVC, CUVE or CUWA diesel sits behind the rear left wheel arch and is lowered out from under the car. The tank is emptied first, the rear section of the wheel housing liner is pushed forward and the rear bumper comes off, which exposes the tank cover. Lines and connectors are released and plugged, then the tank is supported on a padded engine and gearbox jack with its three spacers sitting flat before the side and rear axle bolts come out. It is lowered carefully while the filler neck boot is freed from the body. The job hinges on not damaging the filler neck and on adapting the learnt SCR value afterwards.
🧭 Before you start
Drain the tank, push the liner forward, remove the rear bumper and the tank cover. Unclip and disconnect the supply line and connectors, catch any spill and plug all openings. Support the tank on a padded jack, remove the bolts, pull it from the body guide, release the locking lugs and lower it while freeing the filler neck boot. On refitting, check the filler neck seal, engage the tank in its guide, confirm all lines are secure and adapt the SCR learnt value.
Fits: VW Tiguan I (5N, 2007–2016), VW CC (358, 2012–2017), VW Sharan II / SEAT Alhambra (7N, 2010–)
- Renewed: it if necessary
Don't miss
- Reducing agent is corrosive and crystallises; catch spills with a cloth and plug every open line.
- Seat the 3 spacers flat on the padded jack before removing the bolts.
- Lower slowly and steady the tank by hand to avoid damaging the filler neck.
- Check the filler neck seal and renew it if damaged.
- Adapt the learnt value for the SCR system after draining or renewing components.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
