Removing and installing starter, 2.0 l, 103 kW TDI engine, dual clutch gearbox (DSG) DQ250-6F — VW

Removing and installing starter, 2.0 l, 103 kW TDI engine, dual clutch gearbox (DSG) DQ250-6F on VW: 13 steps.

Removing and installing the starter on the 2.0 l 103 kW TDI with the DQ250-6F dual clutch gearbox, as fitted to the Sharan II and Alhambra (7N, 2010 onwards). On this layout the starter comes out from above, so the air filter housing has to go first: unplug the connector and vacuum hose, undo the housing bolt, unclip the cover, pull the hose off and lift the housing out of its brackets. That opens the view down onto the solenoid. Push the protective cap off, separate terminal 50, undo the nut for the positive cable, then the upper and lower starter bolts. The battery must be disconnected before the main cable is touched, and the threaded connections go back to the values in the assembly overview.

13 steps

🧭 Before you start

Disconnect the battery and remove the air filter housing complete with its cover and hose to gain access from above. Unplug terminal 50, undo the positive cable nut and remove the upper and lower starter bolts, then lift the starter out upwards. Refit in reverse order and tighten all threaded connections to the torques in the assembly overview.

Fits: VW Sharan II / SEAT Alhambra (7N, 2010–)

Don't miss

  • Disconnect the battery before touching the positive cable on the solenoid.
  • Release the vacuum hose clip with spring-type clip pliers, not a screwdriver.
  • Refit the protective cap over the solenoid terminal after reconnecting.
  • Tighten the starter bolts and cable nut to the assembly overview values.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
