Removing and installing mounting bracket, Scirocco — VW

Removing and installing mounting bracket, Scirocco on VW: 24 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Removing the pedal mounting bracket on the Scirocco, a job that means detaching the clutch master cylinder from the bulkhead side. The air filter housing and battery tray come out first, the insulation mat is unwrapped from the lines, and the master cylinder supply hose is clamped off with hose clamp 3094 (or sealed with T10249/1). The pipe or plastic line is pulled off after its securing clip is released, the clutch position sender G476 is unclipped with its connector still on, and in the footwell the cover, vent and crash bar come out before the bracket nuts. Brake fluid control and renewing the self-locking nuts and seal decide whether this goes cleanly, and the clutch must be bled at the end.

24 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove the air filter housing and battery tray, unwrap the line insulation, clamp the clutch supply hose and disconnect the master cylinder line and position sender. In the footwell, remove the cover, vent and crash bar, then the bracket nuts and the bracket. Refit with new self-locking nuts and seal, reconnect the sender, line and supply hose, re-wrap the insulation, bleed the clutch and reinstall the battery and air filter housing.

Fits: platform code 138

  • Opens: brake fluid, clutch fluid
  • Renewed: self-locking nuts

Don't miss

  • Lay lint-free cloths under the master cylinder and in the footwell; brake fluid damages paint and carpet.
  • Clamp 3094 deforms the supply hose; reshape it after the clamp comes off.
  • Renew the self-locking nuts and the clutch master cylinder seal after removal.
  • Clip G476 back onto the master cylinder with its connector attached.
  • Bleed the clutch mechanism before the car is driven.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
