Removing and installing indirect ventilation flap control motor V213 — VW

Removing and installing indirect ventilation flap control motor V213 on VW: 10 steps, 4 torque figures.

Indirect ventilation flap control motor V213 on the Passat B7 (platform codes 362 and 365) sits on the heater and air conditioning unit behind the dash, so the dash panel has to come out first. With ignition off and the key removed, the connector on the motor is unplugged, the defrost intermediate piece and the indirect ventilation intermediate piece are unbolted from the heater box, and the motor is then released from its intermediate piece. The bolts are small plastic-thread fasteners with low torque values, so a light hand and a small torque driver matter more than anything else. The step that decides whether it works afterwards is the basic setting with a diagnostic tester; without it the flap position is not learnt.

🧭 Before you start

Switch off consumers and ignition, then remove the dash panel. Disconnect V213, remove the intermediate pieces (bolts 3.5 Nm) and the motor fixings (1.5 Nm), and pull the motor off. Refit in reverse order, then run the basic setting with a diagnostic tester and check the flap operates.

Fits: VW Passat B7 saloon (362, 2010–2014), VW Passat B7 Variant (365, 2010–2014)

Don't miss

  • Switch off all consumers and remove the key before disconnecting anything.
  • Intermediate piece bolts take 3.5 Nm; motor bolts only 1.5 Nm. Easy to strip.
  • Run the basic setting with a diagnostic tester after installation and confirm operation.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
