Fits: VW Touran I (1T, 2003–2015), VW Golf V / Jetta (1K, 2003–2009), VW Passat B6 (3C, 2005–2010); platform codes 5M1, 1F7

Don't miss

  • Catch escaping fuel in a cloth.
  • Use a spanner to counterhold threaded connections on high pressure pump and on lower part of intake manifold when loosening union nuts.
  • Moisten high-pressure pump bucket tappet with clean engine oil.The high-pressure pump O-ring must always be renewed.
  • Use a spanner to counterhold threaded connections on high-pressure pump and on lower part of intake manifold when tightening union nuts.

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. Remove air filter .
  2. ⚠ Fuel supply lines are under pressure! Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid possible injury and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection. — Separate fuel supply line (arrow).
  3. Pull connector and fuel supply line (arrows) off high-pressure pump. [Note: Catch escaping fuel in a cloth.]
  4. Remove wiring guide (2) and take clip (4) off high-pressure line. [Note: Use a spanner to counterhold threaded connections on high pressure pump and on lower part of intake manifold when loosening union nuts.]
  5. Loosen union nuts (1) and (3) of high-pressure line.

  1. Remove securing bolts (1), (2) and (3) equally.
  2. Pull high-pressure pump (3) and bucket tappet (1) out of camshaft housing. [Note: Moisten high-pressure pump bucket tappet with clean engine oil.The high-pressure pump O-ring must always be renewed.]
  3. Push bucket tappet (1) into camshaft housing.
  4. Insert new, lubricated O-ring (2) in groove of high-pressure pump (3).
  5. Place high-pressure pump (3) onto camshaft housing.
  6. Tighten securing bolts (1), (2) and (3) equally.
  7. Tighten union nuts of high-pressure line (1) and (3) hand-tight.
  8. Install wiring guide (2) and fit clip (4) on high-pressure line. [Note: Use a spanner to counterhold threaded connections on high-pressure pump and on lower part of intake manifold when tightening union nuts.]
  9. Tighten union nut (1) of high-pressure line to 18 Nm. — 18 Nm (13 lb-ft)
  10. Tighten union nut (3) of high-pressure line to 18 Nm. — 18 Nm (13 lb-ft)
  11. Secure fuel supply line and connector (arrows) on high-pressure pump.
  12. Reconnect fuel supply line (arrow).
  13. Install air filter .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
