Removing and installing fresh air/recirculated air, air flow flap control motor V425 — VW
Removing and installing fresh air/recirculated air, air flow flap control motor V425 on VW: 8 steps, 2 torque figures.
The fresh air and recirculated air flap motor V425 sits on the heater and air conditioning unit behind the glove compartment, on the platform codes listed below. With all consumers and the ignition off and the key removed, the glove compartment comes out, the motor's small bolts are removed and the motor is turned out of its guide and lifted off the unit before its connector is separated. The fasteners are tiny and take very little torque, so a small screwdriver and a light hand are the right tools. The real catch is the flap: its position must not be moved while the motor is off, or the motor and flap will no longer agree. After refitting, flap operation is checked and a basic setting is run.
🧭 Before you start
Switch everything off, remove the key and take out the glove compartment. Remove the motor bolts, rotate the motor out of its guide and off the heater unit, and separate the connector. Install in reverse order, tighten the small bolts to their low torque, then check flap operation and run the basic setting.
Fits: platform code A32
Don't miss
- Do not move the air flow flap while the motor is removed.
- Turn the motor out of its guide before lifting it off the heater unit.
- The motor bolts take only 1.5 Nm; do not strip the plastic.
- Check air flow and recirculation flap operation after fitting.
- Run the basic setting after installation.

🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |

| 1.5 Nm (1.1 lb-ft) | Remove bolts (arrows |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
