📋 Procedure

Removing and installing
fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor
V154
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Vehicle diagnostic tester
Removing
Note
The
fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor
V154
can be removed and installed without trouble only in the position
“fresh air mode stop”
. If the control motor should be stopped in a different position and cannot be moved electrically to the position
“fresh air mode stop”
, it can be pulled off and removed only with difficulty.
The position of the fresh air and air recirculation flap must not be changed.
Switch on ignition and wait until
fresh air flap and air recirculation flap control motor
V154
has reached its end position in
“fresh air mode”
.
Switch off ignition.
Remove glove compartment

Release fixing plates
B
and
C
for retainer
A
on intake duct and remove retainer
A
.
Disconnect connector from control motor
B
.
Remove
fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor
V154
B
from intake duct (in direction of arrow).
Note
The connection between the gears of the control motor and the air flow flap is designed so that the control motor can be removed without trouble only in the position
“fresh air operation”
(the intake opening for air recirculation above the fresh air and air recirculation flap
A
is closed).
If the control motor is in a different position and can no longer move, the control motor must not simply be pulled off. First, it must be released from its mounting points
C
with force. During this operation, ensure that gear
D
is not damaged.
Installing
Note
The control motor is supplied as a replacement part in the position
“fresh air mode”
. It can be pushed onto the gear of the fresh air and air recirculation flap only if gear
A
is at stop
B
. If a control motor was removed in a different position or if it was actuated after it was removed, it cannot be installed.
If the gear
A
of the control motor is not at stop
B
“fresh air mode”
, proceed as follows:
Connect control motor to vehicle wiring harness.
Switch on ignition.
Wait until gear
A
of control motor has reached stop
B
“fresh air mode”
.
Switch off ignition.
Reach into intake opening for recirculated air mode and move fresh air / air recirculation flap
A
to
“fresh air mode”
position (intake opening for recirculated air mode is closed).
Pull gear
D
slightly off shaft.
Insert control motor
B
in mountings
C
against direction of arrow and onto gear
D
.
Note
In order for the gear wheel
B
on the control motor
A
to mesh with the gear wheel on the fresh air and air recirculation flap, the short tooth
C
on the control motor gear wheel must align with the short tooth space
D
on the gear wheel on the shaft for fresh air and air recirculation flap
D
.
After installing control motor, push gear
1
back onto shaft of fresh air / air recirculation flap.
Route wiring harness so that it cannot come into contact with any moving parts (e.g. actuating arm on control motor).
Install bracket
A
, paying particular attention to ensure guide of bracket
D
is properly inserted in support of intake duct
E
and bracket is properly attached to both fixing plates
B
and
C
.
Note
The position of the control motor (and of the flap) is no longer visible when the glove compartment is installed, so it is prudent to check its function before installing the glove compartment.
If the two gears are fit together in the wrong position, it will be noticeable that the fresh air and air recirculation flap will not reach its two end positions or the control motor does not run smoothly without catching.
Reinstall all parts in reverse order of removal.
Note
After installing
fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor
V154
, check operation of air recirculation flap.
Checking: with
vehicle diagnostic tester
Renewing: initiate basic setting using
vehicle diagnostic tester

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
