Removing and installing electrical air conditioner compressor V470, engine codes CNLA and CRJA (hybrid) — VW
Removing and installing electrical air conditioner compressor V470, engine codes CNLA and CRJA (hybrid) on VW: factory workshop procedure.
Workshop procedure for VW — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
ℹ️ Torque figures below come verbatim from workshop data — always cross-check against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening.
Removing and installing
electrical air conditioner compressor
V470
, engine codes CNLA and CRJA (hybrid)
Note
If the
air conditioner compressor control unit
J842
is defective, the amount of refrigerant in the new air conditioner compressor should be adjusted. The refrigerant circuit must not be flushed with R134a.
The procedure required to clear the air conditioner compressor of refrigerant oil is described in the workshop manual 'Air conditioning systems with refrigerant R134a'
Rep. gr.
00
under 'Flushing (cleaning) refrigerant circuit with refrigerant R134a'; 'Standard circuit diagrams for various flushing circuits'; 'Flushing circuit and air conditioner'.
If the refrigerant circuit is flushed with refrigerant R134a, e.g. following air conditioner compressor damage, the vehicle must be de-energised beforehand

WARNING
Danger from escaping pressurised refrigerant!
Freezing of skin and other body parts.
Extract refrigerant and then immediately open refrigerant circuit.
If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes before the opening of refrigerant circuit, the refrigerant must be extracted again. The pressure in the circuit will increase due to subsequent evaporation.
Unscrew bolt of high-pressure line (20 ± 3.0 Nm), remove high-pressure line from air conditioner compressor and seal with suitable bungs.
Remove bolt of low-pressure line (20 ± 3.0 Nm) and remove low-pressure line from air conditioner compressor.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
