Removing and installing door opener illumination bulb L108/L109 — VW
Removing and installing door opener illumination bulb L108/L109 on VW: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Renewing the door opener illumination for L108/L109 on the platform codes listed below. On these doors the light comes through a light conductor at the interior door handle, so this is really a conductor job. Switch off the ignition and all consumers and remove the key, then take off the front door trim panel. Release and unplug the connector, unhook the conductor from its front retainer, lift it slightly and swing it out of the interior handle, then pull it out of its mounting. The thing that ruins the job is handling: touch the conductor only at the light-emitting element by the door handle, or it is easily damaged. Test the lighting before the trim goes back on, while you can still get at it.
🧭 Before you start
With ignition and consumers off, remove the front door trim panel. Unplug the connector, release the light conductor from its front retainer and swing it out of the interior door handle, then pull it out of its mounting. Fit the new one in reverse, test it and refit the trim.
Fits: platform codes AU1, BX5

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
