Removing and installing convertible top lock — VW

🧭 Before you start

Fits: platform codes 5C7, 5C1

• Renewed: spring clip

Don't miss

• Under the convertible lock (1) there may be shims fitted on the stud bolts for adjustment purposes. Note the numbers, positions and thicknesses of washers and re-install in the same way.
• Perform functional check before installing trim.

📋 Procedure

1. Remove trim at front of convertible top .
2. Insert a small screwdriver beneath spring clip (3) and raise spring clip.
3. Pull ball head of linkage (4) off convertible top lock (1).
4. Always renew spring clip after control link has been removed. [Note: Under the convertible lock (1) there may be shims fitted on the stud bolts for adjustment purposes. Note the numbers, positions and thicknesses of washers and re-install in the same way.]
5. Unscrew nuts (2) and remove convertible top lock (1).

6. Install convertible top lock (1).
7. Tighten nuts (2).
8. Press ball head (4) onto convertible top lock (1).
9. Perform functional check before installing trim.
10. Install trim at front of convertible top .
