🧭 Before you start

Fits: VW Passat B8 (3G, 2014–)

  • Opens: brake fluid

Don't miss

  • Different heat shields (1) are installed depending on the engine.
  • For all-wheel drive vehicles, fit a long bolt into the front hole in the aluminium section of the pendulum support to serve as a spacer between the gearbox and the engine support.
  • Do not remove brake pedal depressorV.A.G 1869/2.
  • Ensure no brake fluid gets onto contacts.
  • Mark, unscrew and seal threaded holes of remaining brake lines (brake calipers).

  1. Loosen bolt (2) and remove clamp.
  2. Remove front exhaust pipe. [Note: Different heat shields (1) are installed depending on the engine.]
  3. Unscrew bolts (arrows) and remove heat shield (1) from steering rack.
  4. Unscrew bolts (1, 2 and 3), and remove pendulum support.
  5. Remove tunnel heat shield at front.
  6. Unbolt propshaft from bevel box at front 39Propshaft; Assembly overview - propshaft, and lay it to one side.
  7. Fit engine support T10533 as shown in illustration, and tighten bolts by hand. [Note: For all-wheel drive vehicles, fit a long bolt into the front hole in the aluminium section of the pendulum support to serve as a spacer between the gearbox and the engine support.]
  8. Push engine with engine support T10533 towards the front.
  9. On vehicles with heat shield, remove heat shield (1).
  10. Unclip line guide.
  11. Press down retainer catch (arrow A).
  12. Release electrical connector (arrow B).
  13. Pull off connector (1).
  14. Apply brake pedal depressorV.A.G 1869/2.
  15. Connect hose of bleeder bottle (1) to bleeder valve of front left brake caliper.
  16. Open bleeder valve.
  17. Connect hose of bleeder bottle (1) to bleeder valve of rear left brake caliper.
  18. Open bleeder valve.
  19. Depress brake pedal at least 60 mm using brake pedal depressorV.A.G 1869/2.
  20. Close front left and rear left bleeder valves.
  21. Do not remove brake pedal depressorV.A.G 1869/2.
  22. Place sufficient lint-free cloths under the control unit and hydraulic unit. [Note: Ensure no brake fluid gets onto contacts.]
  23. Unbolt upper section of insulation mat from plenum chamber bulkhead, and fold it over.
  24. Clip brake lines out of both retainers.
  25. First identify both brake lines from brake master cylinder and unscrew from hydraulic unit.
  26. Seal threaded holes immediately using sealing plugs from the assembly part kit, part no. 5Q0 698 311.
  27. Mark, unscrew and seal threaded holes of remaining brake lines (brake calipers).
  28. Fit dust caps of bleeder valves onto brake lines.
  29. Pull hydraulic unit together with control unit upwards out of dampers (arrow).
  30. Carefully set down hydraulic unit together with control unit in engine compartment.
  31. Raise vehicle.
  32. Unbolt bracket from hydraulic unit (arrows) in vehicle.
  33. Guide hydraulic unit out of vehicle. [Note: Remove sealing plugs from new hydraulic unit only when the corresponding brake line is to be fitted. If sealing plugs are removed too early from the hydraulic unit, brake fluid can escape, and it can then no longer be guaranteed that the unit can be sufficiently filled and bled. When installing the hydraulic unit, ensure that the rubber dampers are not pressed out of bracket.]
  34. Before installing bracket of ABS hydraulic unit N55 on bracket, spray rubber dampers with silicone lubricantD 007 000 A2.
  35. Using assembly toolV.A.G 1410/8, carefully fit brake lines.
  36. Remove brake pedal depressorV.A.G 1869/2.
  37. Bleed brake system .
  38. Code radio.
  39. Code ABS control unit J104 using .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
