  • Special tools named: torque wrench

Don't miss

  • Carefully remove cap with circlip (A) using, for example, a small screwdriver or long nose pliers. Exercise particular caution to ensure poly V-belt pulley is not damaged in the process.
  • Counterhold drive plate (C) and poly-V-belt pulley (D) using commercially available strap wrench in (direction of arrow E) and loosen driveshaft (B) (35 ± 5 Nm) in (direction of arrow F).
  • When installing circlip (A), ensure that it is not expanded more than necessary.
  • Counterhold drive plate (1) using commercially available strap spanner in (direction of arrow A) and tighten drive shaft by turning torque wrench in (direction of arrow B) (35 ± 5 Nm).

📋 Procedure

  1. Remove poly V-belt 13Crankshaft, pistons.
  2. Carefully remove cap with circlip (A) using, for example, a small screwdriver or long nose pliers. Exercise particular caution to ensure poly V-belt pulley is not damaged in the process.
  3. Counterhold drive plate (C) and poly-V-belt pulley (D) using commercially available strap wrench in (direction of arrow E) and loosen driveshaft (B) (35 ± 5 Nm) in (direction of arrow F). — 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft)

  1. Pull off poly V-belt pulley (B).
  2. Renew circlip (A).
  3. Clean air conditioner compressor flange before fitting poly V-belt pulley
  4. When installing circlip (A), ensure that it is not expanded more than necessary.
  5. Install poly V-belt pulley (B).
  6. Install circlip (A) correctly: chamfer (C) faces away from air conditioner compressor (flat side towards air conditioner compressor).
  7. Insert rubber elements (D) into poly V-belt pulley (B), as shown in figure. [Note: When installing drive plate, lightly moisten rubber elements (D) e.g. with tyre mounting paste or soap solution (as a lubricant)To prevent any damage to the air conditioner compressor mounting, use jaw protectors (2) between the vice and air conditioner compressor.]
  8. Insert drive plate (C) between rubber elements so far that plate contacts drive shaft of air conditioner compressor (B).
  9. Counterhold drive plate (1) using commercially available strap spanner in (direction of arrow A) and tighten drive shaft by turning torque wrench in (direction of arrow B) (35 ± 5 Nm). — 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft)
  10. Fit cap with circlip.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
