Removing and installing anti-drain valve: VW 1.2 (CBZA, CBZB, CBZC)
Step-by-step removing and installing anti-drain valve for the VW 1.2: 11 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
On the CBZA, CBZB and CBZC TSI engines in the Polo (6R, 2009–2014), Golf VI (5K, 2008–2013), Golf Cabriolet (517, 2011–2016), Touran I (1T) and the 521 platform, the anti-drain valve sits in the cylinder block behind the oil pump. That means the sump and oil pump come off first. The valve is a press fit with O-rings, extracted with a Kukko 21/1 internal puller spread inside it and the 22/1 adapter bearing on the block face. The sealing face around it is cleaned and masked with insulating tape beforehand, because a scratch there becomes an oil leak at the pump. The new valve goes in with oiled O-rings, pushed in until flush with the block.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the sump and oil pump. Clean the sealing surface around the valve and mask it with insulating tape. Insert the Kukko 21/1 puller, spread it with the 14 mm nut, fit adapter 22/1 against the block and draw the valve out with the 22 mm nut. Remove the tape, oil the new valve's O-rings, slide it in flush with the block and refit the oil pump and sump.
Fits: VW Polo 6R (2009–2014), VW Golf VI (5K, 2008–2013), VW Golf Cabriolet (517, 2011–2016), VW Touran I (1T, 2003–2015); platform code 521

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
