Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

75 steps 1 torque figure

🧭 Before you start

Fits: VW Passat B8 (3G, 2014–)

  • Special tools named: T10346/1, T10346
  • Renewed: self-locking nuts

Don't miss

  • All threaded holes into which self-locking bolts are to be screwed must be carefully cleaned of residual locking fluid using a thread chaser.
  • Ensure that intermediate plate is correctly seated on engine.
  • Brackets T10346 and T10346/1 must be screwed together as shown in illustration.
  • Be careful of all lines when installing gearbox.
  • Install engine and gearbox mounting free of tension 10Removing and installing engine; Installing engine.

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

TorqueFastener / step
20 Nm (15 lb-ft)Secure brackets/1 and with bolt (1) at bottom of subframe, and tighten

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. All threaded holes into which self-locking bolts are to be screwed must be carefully cleaned of residual locking fluid using a thread chaser.
  2. Renew self-locking nuts and bolts after each removal.
  3. Check whether dowel sleeves for aligning engine and gearbox are fitted in cylinder block and install if necessary.
  4. Ensure that intermediate plate is correctly seated on engine.
  5. Clean input shaft splines and apply thin coat of grease for clutch plate splines.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
