E - Checking sender wheel installation position on crankshaft — VW
E - Checking sender wheel installation position on crankshaft on VW: 15 steps, 13 torque figures, engines AFK, AHW, AKQ, ALD.
This check confirms that the sender wheel sits correctly on the crankshaft after a rear sealing flange has been fitted with the assembly tool. The facts list it against platform 358 (VW CC 2012–2017) and a long list of engine codes. Once the assembly tool and the sealing lip support ring are off, the distance between the crankshaft flange and the sender wheel is measured: the sender wheel is right when that gap is 0.5 mm. A caliper gauge on the crankshaft flange does it, or a ruler and feeler gauge where the engine support leaves no room. If the gap is wrong, the wheel is pressed again. Everything hinges on measuring that gap honestly and on using new bolts for the sealing flange and flywheel.
🧭 Before you start
Back off the assembly tool, remove its bolts and knurled screws, then the tool and the sealing lip support ring. Measure the gap between crankshaft flange and sender wheel; it must be 0.5 mm, otherwise re-press the sender wheel. Tighten the new sealing flange bolts diagonally and alternately (15 Nm on the version shown, 10 or 12 Nm on some), fit the engine speed sender G28 at 5 Nm, then refit the sump, intermediate plate and flywheel with new bolts at 60 Nm plus 90 degrees.
Fits: VW CC (358, 2012–2017)
- Special tools named: VAS 6095, feeler gauge
Don't miss
- The sender wheel is correctly positioned only when the gap to the crankshaft flange is 0.5 mm.
- Use a ruler and feeler gauge if the engine support leaves no room for a caliper gauge.
- Sealing flange bolts are new and tightened diagonally and alternately to the value for that engine.
- Flywheel bolts are renewed and tightened to 60 Nm plus a further quarter turn (90 degrees).
- Engine speed sender G28 bolt takes only 5 Nm.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure
- Screw on hexagon nut (E) until it reaches end of threaded spindle.
- Unscrew 2 bolts (A) from cylinder block.
- Unscrew 3 knurled screws (B) out of sealing flange.
- Unscrew two hexagon socket head bolts of assembly tool again.
- Remove assembly tool T10134.
- Remove sealing lip support ring.
- The sender wheel is in the correct installation position on the crankshaft if a gap (a) = 0.5 mm exists between crankshaft flange (A) and sender wheel (B).
- Place caliper gauge on crankshaft flange.
- Measure distance - a - between crankshaft flange and sender wheel. [Note: If the engine and gearbox support VAS 6095 does not provide the necessary space, the ruler T40100 should be placed on the crankshaft flange and the distance determined with a feeler gauge.]
- Re-press sender wheel .
- Tighten new sealing flange securing bolts diagonally and alternately to 15 Nm. — 15 Nm (11 lb-ft)
- Install engine speed sender G28(arrow) and tighten fastening bolt to 5 Nm. — 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft)
- Install sump .
- Install intermediate plate.
- Install flywheel with new bolts. Tighten securing bolts to 60 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°) further. — 60 Nm (44 lb-ft)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
