Determining the degree of wear on the ceramic brake disc
Check bolted connection area of friction ring and brake disc chamber:
WARNING
Brake disc ring and brake disc chamber are screwed together and must not be separated from each other under any circumstances. It is not permissible to undo the bolted connection on the brake disc chamber.
Designation of the ceramic brake disk on the brake disc chamber.
Direction of rotation
Supplier
Serial production number of the brake disc
Part No.
The part number is only given as an example
Production date of the ceramic brake disc
Permissible minimum thickness of the brake disc
Weight of the new ceramic brake disc with chamber
In order to determine the degree of wear on the brake disc, the following steps must be taken in sequence:
1. Determining wear by checking the thickness of the brake disc
2. Determining wear by weighing the brake disc
3. Determining the wear at the wear indicators
1. Checking the thickness of the brake disc
Chapter
Thickness of brake disc within permissible limits → Brake disc ok
Thickness of brake disc in critical area min. th + 0.2 mm
If the limit is fallen below or reached
↓↓
↓↓
Checking the weight of the brake disc
Replace brake disc
↓↓
----------
2. Checking the weight of the brake disc
Chapter
Weight of brake disc within permissible limits → Brake disc ok
Weight of brake disc critical, less than 20 grammes of the maximum permissible weight loss
If the limits up to 200 grammes of the initial weight of the new brake disc are fallen below or reached
↓↓
↓↓
Checking the brake disk wear at the wear indicators
Replace brake disc
↓↓
----------
3. Checking the wear indicators to determine wear
Chapter
None of the six wear indicators completely burned out → Brake disk ok
----------
One of the six wear indicators completely burned out
---------
↓↓
----------
Replace brake disc
If one of the 3 wear limits has been reached, all the brake discs of the axle must be replaced.
The brake pads for the whole axle always have to be replaced as well.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
