Clutch oscillation: adjust — VW
Clutch oscillation: adjust on VW: 17 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
- Assemble the components necessary to adjust the clutch oscillation without the needle thrust bearing
- Adjust the clutch oscillation between -K1- and the ATF pump
- Adjust the clutch oscillation between -K2- and the ATF pump
- Perform a measurement to check the clutch oscillation
- Place a ruler "A" over the transmission case.
- Measure with a depth gage "B" up to inside -K1-.
- Place the gasket "C"over the flange for the pump, in the transmission case.
- Place a ruler "B" over the pump case.
- Measure with a depth gage "A" up to the pump flange, located in the transmission case.
- Determine the necessary needle thrust bearing thickness through the table and search the reference number in the Electronic Part Catalogue.
- Measure with a gage "B" up to the pump case.
- Measure, with a depth gage "B", up to the reverse clutch top collar -K2-.
- Place the gasket "C"over the flange for the transmission case pump.
- Determine the adjusting washer thickness according to the table and search the spare number according to the Electronic Part Catalogue.
- Perform a clutch oscillation control measurement after assembling the ATF pump (see the separate procedure).
- The clutch oscillation can only be measured after the ATF pump assembly.
- Fasten the gauge support to the transmission case and place the gauge with 1 mm of previous tension over the turbine shaft.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
