Checking fuel pressure, vehicles with engine codes CWVA, CWVB, CHYA, CHYB — VW
Checking fuel pressure, vehicles with engine codes CWVA, CWVB, CHYA, CHYB on VW: 51 steps, engines CHYA, CHYB, CWVA, CWVB.
Fuel pressure diagnosis on the Polo 6C (6C1) and the other platform code listed, with the CWVA, CWVB, CHYA and CHYB petrol engines. The pressure tester is connected into the supply line at the engine with its two hoses, the drain tap closed and both shut-off taps open, and the pump is run through final control diagnosis with the diagnostic tester. If the pressure is wrong the test moves back along the system: next ahead of the fuel filter, then at the fuel delivery unit under the rear seat. That sequence separates a kinked or blocked line, a soiled filter or a failed pressure limiting valve in the filter from a defective pump. The lines are under pressure, so wrap a cloth around each connection before releasing it and wear eye protection.
🧭 Before you start
Pull off the supply line at the engine, connect the pressure tester with its two hoses, close the drain tap and open both shut-off taps, then build pressure with final control diagnosis and read the gauge. If out of range, repeat the test ahead of the fuel filter and then at the fuel delivery unit under the rear seat. Check lines for kinks, blockage and leaks along the way, and renew the filter or fuel delivery unit as indicated.
Fits: VW Polo 6C (2014–2017); platform code 614
- Special tools named: VAS 6550/2
- Renewed: fuel filter, fuel delivery unit
Don't miss
- The fuel line is under pressure; wear eye protection and wrap a cloth around the connection before loosening.
- Pull on each plug-in connector after fitting to confirm it is secured.
- Drain tap C closed, shut-off taps A and B open before building pressure.
- A defective pressure limiting valve in the fuel filter means renewing the whole fuel filter.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
