Checking delivery rate, vehicles with engine codes CWVA, CWVB, CHYA, CHYB — VW

Checking delivery rate, vehicles with engine codes CWVA, CWVB, CHYA, CHYB on VW: 57 steps, engines CHYA, CHYB, CWVA, CWVB.

For the VW Polo 6C (2014–2017) with the CHYA, CHYB, CWVA or CWVB petrol engines, this test measures how much fuel the in-tank pump delivers against a fixed back-pressure, rather than just its pressure. A battery charger is connected, the rear seat folded, and the delivery unit cover opened so a 5-pin adapter and remote control can run the pump directly while a multimeter logs pump voltage. A pressure tester with regulating valve goes into the supply line, set to 4.0 bar, and fuel is collected in a container for 60 seconds. If the volume is short, the check is repeated with the filler cap off, after the filter and at the delivery unit itself, narrowing it down to breather, lines, filter or pump.

57 steps 4 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Connect a battery charger, fold up the bench seat, remove the cover and fit the 5-pin adapter, remote control and multimeter. Connect the pressure tester and regulating valve to the supply line from the tank, set 4.0 bar, empty the container and run the pump for 60 seconds while noting voltage. If delivery is short, repeat with the filler cap removed to test the tank breather, then before the filter and at the delivery unit outlet, checking lines for kinks and leaks. Finally inspect the filter strainer and connections or renew the delivery unit.

Fits: VW Polo 6C (2014–2017); platform code 614

  • Special tools named: VAS 5565
  • Renewed: if necessary, fuel delivery unit

Don't miss

  • Delivery depends on battery voltage, so keep a charger connected and log pump voltage during the test.
  • Set 4.0 bar on the regulating valve and do not move the adjuster afterwards.
  • The fuel line is under pressure; wrap a cloth around the joint before opening.
  • If delivery recovers with the filler cap off, check the tank breather.
  • Check lines for kinks and leaks at each stage before blaming the pump.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
