Checking fuel delivery rate, engine codes CUUA, CUUB: VW Golf Cabriolet (CUUA, CUUB, CUVC, CUVE, …)
Step-by-step checking fuel delivery rate, engine codes CUUA, CUUB for the VW Golf Cabriolet: 53 steps.
This is a diagnostic check, not a repair: it measures how much fuel the in-tank pump actually delivers on the VW Golf Cabriolet (517) with the CUUA and CUUB diesel engines. A pressure tester with a regulating valve is teed into the supply line under the engine cover, the pressure is set to 4.5 bar, and the diagnostic tester runs the pump while you collect the output in a measuring container. If the quantity is short, the test is repeated further back, at the line under the rear bench seat, to narrow the fault down to the lines or the delivery unit itself. The things that decide the result are a correctly set regulating valve that is not touched again, and honest inspection of the lines for kinks and leaks.
🧭 Before you start
Switch off the ignition, remove the engine cover panel and the rear bench seat, and connect the pressure tester and regulating valve into the supply line. With the tester running the guided pump function, set 4.5 bar, lock the adjuster wheel position, empty the container and run the delivery test again; the pump runs for 30 seconds. If delivery is low, check the engine-bay lines, then repeat the test at the line under the seat cover. Still short means removing the delivery unit, checking the filter strainer and hoses, and renewing the unit if needed.
Fits: VW Golf Cabriolet (517, 2011–2016)
- Special tools named: VAS 6551
- Renewed: fuel delivery unit
Don't miss
- The pump can run when a door is opened with the battery connected, so expect fuel to escape from opened lines.
- Supply line is under pressure: eye protection and protective clothing before opening the clamp.
- Once the regulating valve is set, do not move the adjuster wheel for the rest of the test.
- Drain tap closed and both shut-off valves open before each measurement.
- Before condemning the pump, check the filter strainer for dirt and that every hose on the unit is connected.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
