Timing belt replacement: Peugeot 807 (EW10A)
Step-by-step timing belt replacement for the Peugeot 807 (EW10A): 92 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Timing belt replacement on the Peugeot 807 with the 2.0 16V EW10A petrol engine. The engine has to be supported from above because the right-hand engine support comes off, along with the coolant reservoir, power steering line mounts, inner wing splash guard and ancillary belt. The crankshaft is pinned and both camshafts locked before the crankshaft pulley is removed – never take that pulley off without everything locked. The tensioner is pre-tensioned to its maximum with an Allen key and then eased back until the pointer sits in position, holding the pulley still while the bolt is tightened. After two turns clockwise the inlet camshaft tool must drop in and the tensioner marks agree. A new crankshaft pulley bolt, torqued in stages, finishes the job.
🧭 Before you start
Support the engine, remove the right-hand support, ancillary belt, pulley and covers with the crank and cams locked. Release the tensioner and fit the new belt, set the tensioner pointer with an Allen key, then fit the pulley with a new bolt in stages. Turn two revolutions, confirm the locking tool fits and the marks align, and refit supports, covers and wheel.
Fits: platform codes 2.0, 16V

- Special tools named: locking tool, locking pin
Don't miss
- Never remove the crankshaft pulley without the crankshaft and camshafts locked.
- Never rotate the engine backwards.
- Hold the tensioner pulley still while tightening its bolt.
- Use a new crankshaft pulley bolt, tightened in stages.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
