Qashqai - HR16DE - RS5F92R — NISSAN
Qashqai - HR16DE - RS5F92R on Nissan: 71 steps, engines HR16DE. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Gearbox removal on the Nissan Qashqai with the HR16DE engine and RS5F92R manual gearbox needs the subframe out. Start at the top with the battery, air filter inlet, mass airflow meter, crankcase ventilation hose, resonator and air filter housing. The clutch hydraulics are drained through a transparent pipe on the bleed hole. Underneath, the stabiliser links, both front drive shafts and the shaft centre bearing come out, followed by the pendulum support and the subframe with the anti-roll bar. Then the starter, gearbox wiring and shift cables are disconnected and the gearbox is lowered on a trolley jack. On refit the concentric slave cylinder is renewed, and the clutch is bled by pumping and holding the pedal, repeated 4 - 7 times. Do not press the clutch pedal while the system is open.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the air intake components and battery casing, drain the clutch hydraulics and disconnect the wiring and shift cables. Remove the drive shafts, centre bearing, stabiliser links, pendulum support, subframe with anti-roll bar and starter. Support the gearbox, remove the attaching bolts and supports and lower it. Refit with a new concentric slave cylinder and bleed the clutch.
Fits: platform codes 1.6, 16V
- Opens: clutch fluid
- Timing position: the crankshaft or camshaft is set and locked during this job
- Special tools named: locking pin
- Renewed: concentric slave cylinder
Don't miss
- Renew the concentric slave cylinder when the gearbox is out.
- Do not press the clutch pedal while the hydraulic system is open.
- Mark the position of components before removing them so they refit the same way.
- Bleed the clutch with repeated pedal strokes and top up the fluid afterwards.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
