Unscrew bolts -arrows- on intermediate flange for front axle drive.
Vehicles with front-wheel drive:
Unscrew bolts at lid for front final drive against tightening sequence shown.
Position gearbox jack V.A.G 1383 A with universal jack.
Important:
Slowly and carefully remove the cover for front final drive from the gearbox housing. The spur gears may otherwise fall out of the gearbox.

Raise the cover or intermediate flange for front final drive.
Notes:
Do not remove the spur gears for the front axle drive. Secure the spur gears such that they cannot fall out.
However, if the spur gears for the front axle drive have been removed, they must be reinstalled such that the gear code is facing outwards (away from the gearbox).
Installing
Before installing, ensure that the dowel sleeves -A- are correctly located.
Install gasket.
Raise the cover or intermediate flange for front final drive.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
