Renewing pulley set "“I”" — AUDI

Renewing pulley set "“I”" on Audi: 10 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

10 steps

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A4 Cabriolet B6/B7 (8H), Audi A4 B6/B7 (8E), Audi A6 C5 (4B), Audi A8 D3 (4E, 2002–2010), Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)

Don't miss

  • "“Dimension -a- (old)”" is measured from the top side of the circlip to the contact surface.
  • Dimension (b) is the total thickness of circlip (1) and shim (2)."“Dimension -b- (old)”" is the previous total thickness; "“dimension -b- (new)”" is the new total thickness.
  • The total thickness of the new shim and the new circlip must not exceed "“dimension -b- (new)”".

📋 Procedure

  1. Remove chain and pulley set "“I”".
  2. Check wear on bearing "“C”" for pulley set "“I”"; if necessary, renew bearing "“C”".
  3. Renew bearings "“D”" and "“E”" for pulley set "“I”".
  4. Insert existing (old) circlip (1) for pulley set "“I”" into groove on existing (old) pulley set "“I”"(item 2).
  5. Determine and note "“dimension -a- (old)”" as shown in illustration. [Note: "“Dimension -a- (old)”" is measured from the top side of the circlip to the contact surface.]

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
