🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012)

  • Renewed: charge air cooler, gaskets

Don't miss

  • Disregard (items 1, 2, 5 and 6).
  • Disregard (item 2).
  • When slackening the flange bolt securing the drive shaft, the wheel bearing must not be under load (vehicle must not be standing on its wheels). — Unscrew flange bolt (2) from drive shaft (right-side) (1).
  • To avoid damage, the flexible joints in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
  • After installing turbocharger, allow engine to idle for approx. 1 minute and do not rev up immediately to ensure turbocharger is supplied with oil.

📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ If the turbocharger has suffered mechanical damage (e.g. damaged compressor wheel), it is not sufficient merely to fit a new turbocharger. The following work must be performed in order to avoid further damage:Check air cleaner housing, air filter element and air intake hoses for dirt and foreign particles.Check the entire charge air system (including the charge air cooler) for foreign matter. If foreign matter is found in the charge air system, clean all relevant ducts and hoses and renew charge air cooler if necessary.Observe rules for cleanliness when working on turbocharger — Remove particulate filter .
  2. Unplug electrical connector (3) and move wiring clear. [Note: Disregard (items 1, 2, 5 and 6).]
  3. Lift off engine cover panel (outside (1) and inside (2)) by pulling up evenly.
  4. Unplug electrical connector (5) for temperature sender before particulate filter G506 and move wiring clear.
  5. Pull cover off air duct (release clips on sides) (arrows).

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
