Removing and installing sliding sunroof frame - Saloon: Audi A6/A7 C7
Step-by-step removing and installing sliding sunroof frame - Saloon for the Audi A6/A7 C7: 11 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check.
The sliding sunroof frame on the Audi A6 saloon C7 (4G, 2011–2018) and the other code listed comes down through the roof opening with the headliner only lowered, not removed. The front backrests are tilted back, connectors are unplugged and the front and rear drain hoses detached, then the outer bolts are removed, leaving the central side bolts until last. This is a three-person job: two hold the frame while the third releases the central bolts and the frame is lifted out. On refit, the frame is located front and rear with an 8 mm drill bit in its locating holes before the bolts are tightened, first across the width and then along the length. Encoding and adaption through guided functions are required afterwards.
🧭 Before you start
Tilt the front backrests back, lower the headliner, unplug connectors and detach the drain hoses. Remove all frame bolts except the central side ones, have two helpers support the frame, then release the central bolts and lift it out. Fit the frame loosely, locate it with an 8 mm drill bit, tighten the bolts across the width front then rear and along the length rear to front, reconnect the drain hoses and carry out encoding and adaption.
Fits: Audi A6/A7 C7 (4G, 2011–2018); platform code 4X

- Locate the frame with an 8 mm drill bit at the locating holes before tightening.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
